What’s Actually Covered Under My Service Contract — and What Isn’t?

Introduction

Your Solutions Auto Group lease includes a 12-month vehicle service contract and a limited powertrain warranty, which are built to protect you against major, unexpected mechanical failures — think engine and transmission — rather than routine maintenance or wear-and-tear items. Your account manager can review the specific terms of your agreement any time you have a question.

What a Service Contract Is Generally Designed For

A vehicle service contract exists to protect you against the kind of repair bill that could otherwise wreck your budget — major powertrain components like the engine and transmission are the typical focus. It’s not the same as routine maintenance coverage, and it’s not the same as your insurance, which handles accidents and damage instead of mechanical failure.

What’s Usually Excluded

Routine maintenance items — oil changes (which are already free through SAG separately), brake pads, tires, wiper blades, and general wear-and-tear parts — are typically not covered under a service contract, since those are expected maintenance costs rather than unexpected failures. Repairs also generally need to be authorized in advance and performed by SAG or an approved repair location to be covered.
